Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the Department of Political Affairs (DPA) at Headquarters. Under the overall supervision of the Director of the Security Council Affairs Division, the Meetings Services Assistant reports to a Senior Political Affairs Officer.
Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the Meetings Services Assistant will be responsible for the following duties: 

• Produces daily and weekly programme of the Security Council and/or its subsidiary bodies prepared by senior staff for distribution. 
• Prepares and organizes sets of official documentation in the document booth, in the six official languages, for distribution in the conference room. 
• Informs relevant offices/persons of changes in the daily programme of the Security Council and/or its subsidiary bodies. 
• Ensures the distribution of procedural notes for the Presidents of the Security Council and/or Chairs of its subsidiary bodies. 
• Assists in the preparation of the preliminary list and annotation of agenda items, the list of participants, and daily material concerning the proceeding of the Security Council and/or its subsidiary bodies. 
• Undertakes research and provides reference materials for preparation of briefs, notes and statements for the Security Council and/or its subsidiary bodies. 
• Maintains an accurate record of speakers and/or an attendance record and coordinates with the Secretariat, verbatim reporters and delegations on their position on the list of speakers. 
• Ensures that reports of the Security Council and/or its subsidiary bodies meet the UN document standards and coordinates with the documents control office for reproduction of reports. 
• Prepares floor plan of seating arrangements in accordance with meeting requirements and UN protocol. 
• Prepares monthly statistics on meetings held at headquarters and offices away from headquarters. 
• Drafts routine correspondence for signature. 
• Makes arrangements for and coordinates video and teleconference activities at headquarters. 
• Maintains filing and reference system of procedures and reference materials for the Security Council and/or its subsidiary bodies. 
• Responds to queries from delegations and the Secretariat. 
• Replaces, as needed, senior GS staff responsible for room reservations and the electronic distribution of the daily programme of meetings. 
• Provides guidance/training, as needed, to temporary assistants and junior GS staff. 
• Performs other duties as required.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of experience in conference and/or administrative support, or related area is required. Experience in dealing with policies, procedures and practices for an international organization is desirable. Experience organising official meetings as well as working with all levels of management is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French is desirable.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.

Duties

As a Medical Officer (Public Health) you will:
  • This position serve as the Division's Regional Associate Director for Europe and Asia.
  • Provide overall management and support for a portfolio of seven to ten countries.  As part of this role, the incumbent supervises, advises and mentors Division of Global HIV and TB (DGHT) Country Directors.
  • Mentor Country Directors regarding implementation of HIV programs.
  • Conduct site visits, at least yearly, to each country and meet individually with the Country Director, Deputy Director and local staff in each country.
  • Provide technical and managerial guidance based on individual country needs and larger international context as appropriate.
  • Report regularly to the Branch Chief and Division Director concerning important events and issues in countries and communicates the Division leadership's strategic guidance to the Country Directors.
  • Meet with various high level government personnel including the U. S. Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator (OGAC), Department of State (DOS), USAID, the Department of Defense (DOD), the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), the Peace Corps, Ministries of Health, and National AIDS Control Programs.

Duties

As an Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC) you will:
  • Serve as an advisor to the Chief Information Security Officer on matters relating to security vulnerabilities and threats to CDC's computer systems.
  • Develop corresponding security countermeasures necessary to protect technical, complex, sensitive and classified information processed on CDC computer equipment.

Major Responsibilities:
1. Lead the Saturday Learning Series and Leaders in Training programs
  • Develop program schedules  and curriculum/curriculum resources in alignment with the program designs
  • Recruit, train and manage volunteers and interns to support program administration and implementation
  • Lead/coordinate program implementation on a daily basis, ranging from tutoring to community building activities to college visits and job skills workshops.
  • Manage participant recruitment, retention, attendance, and family engagement

  • Oversee teachers to coordinate, plan and develop a 6 week culturally and age appropriate curriculum using student centered teaching methodologies for English Language Learners.

  • Oversee design and implementation of assessments, student observations, and student feedback surveys/interviews
3. Support internal and external communications, advocacy, technical support
  • Collaborate with department colleagues in efforts to:
    • Ensure timely communication to guarantee coordinated client services and problem-solving
    • Support advocacy initiatives focusing on services for resettled refugee youth
    • Provide technical expertise as needed, especially around supporting educational development of refugee youth and best practices for working with English Language Learners
  • Coordinate and maintain regular communication with program partners (schools, organizations, university tutor sources)

4. Maintain program information and data collection systems in compliance with IRC standards and contractual obligations, contribute to strengthening program monitoring
  • Participate in Youth Program annual logical framework development and implementation, including design monitoring and evaluation activities related to SLS, LIT and RYSA
  • Enroll program participants, ensure program data is consistently collected and entered in relevant databases
  • Prepare internal and external reports for programs supervised

Major Responsibilities:
1. Lead the Academic Coaching program
  • Plan Academic Coaching program annual activities in alignment with Education & Learning unit framework
  • Recruit, train and manage a team of 4-8 Social Work student interns to serve as Academic Coaches to support caseloads of up to 25 students each
  • Oversee school enrollment process for all newly arrived youth, coordination with Case Management, schools, families, and advocates.

  • Bachelor of Social Work degree required, Masters of Social Work strongly preferred
  • Seminar in Field Instruction (SIFI) certification preferred
  • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working with children and youth, specifically in the context of educational and social programs
  • Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations required
  • Experience working with the New York City Public School system highly desirable
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Attentive to detail
  • Fluent in MS Office applications, especially MS Excel
  • Ability to work well with people of diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and Saturdays
